Diana's Jewels
From the moment she was spotted wearing a gold initial " D " at a Polo match
Diana's jewellery always set off her many wonderful dresses and outfits.
Who can forget her large sapphire and diamond engagement ring bought by Prince Charles for £28,000 in 1981 and how it would be imitated by jewellers and sold all over to the world to Princess Diana fans.

Alot of Diana's fabulous jewels were precious heirlooms from the Royal Family and from the Spencer family.
Like the Queen Mary tiara and the Spencer family tiara.
Also some of Diana's jewels were wedding gifts from heads of state from all over the world like the sapphire and diamond pendant, earrings, bracelet and watch from the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
When the National Association of Goldsmiths asked Diana to choose a present from them she chose a pretty white and yellow gold necklace of sapphire flowers with the Prince of Wales feathers in the centre.

Diana had the style and grace to wear her jewellery with any outfit.
Her favourite piece of was a three strand pearl choker with a turquoise flower clasp, and her favourite gemstones were sapphires.
Diana was also excellent at adapting new looks from old pieces of jewellery.
Can you remember when she wore Queen Mary's emerald and diamond necklace which was given to her by the Queen as a headband when she was on tour in Melbourne Australia with Prince Charles in 1983.

Diana also liked to mix costume jewellery with her fine jewellery and one of her favourite fashion jewellery was Butler and Wilson in London.
She was a frequent visitor to the shop in London's Fulham Road.
She once wore a black dinner jacket decorated with a large snake brooch by Butler and Wilson, see the picture opposite.
Diana also had other pieces made by Butler and Wilson, pair of heart earrings with silver bows , she also famously wore her hair up pinned back with a diamante starburst clip made by Butler and Wilson.
Simon Wilson said "Diana used costume jewellery to customise her clothes and to add wit and individuality to her wardrobe"
